Global 2011: 98% of Women Say "This" Counts As Cheating

About 92 percent of women said exchanging racy pictures over Twitter counts as cheating. The same amount said exchanging sexual tweets or direct messages did too.

But the one non-physical act almost all of the 2,000-plus women could agree on was good old-fashioned phone sex. Ninety-eight percent of Cosmo readers surveyed answered that a guy who had phone sex outside of a relationship was most definitely a cheater.

Global 2011: Sex on the 1st date

Sexuality and gender identity-based culturesImage via Wikipedia
Every few years it feels like someone tries to make the case that sleeping together on a first date is a great plan. It seems like it should be, right? You have physical chemistry, all the hot "newness" and everything that entails, so why not? We also all know the friend who DID sleep with her man on their first date, and now they're happily married with three kids and a blissful sex life that is both loving and hot.

Personally, sleeping together on a first date would make me wonder how many other girls he had done that with. While it does (and can) happen, those who practice it often don't end up with the person they boinked on the first date. Is that because of the sex? Hard to say. But the more times you sleep with someone the first time, the more people you have slept with overall in your life.

Besides, isn't sex just better when you know the person? Sure, we all get lustful and lord knows I made some mistakes back in college along those lines, but it's also important that we don't put ourselves into positions we didn't want to be in. This is equal opportunity! It's not just that he won't respect us, but also that we might not respect him.

Scan of a Valentine greeting card circa 1920.Image via Wikipedia
These are 7 mistakes women tend to make with their beaus in the beginning, or start of a relationship, that usually get the break-up ball rolling. These are in no particular order, as they can vary in damage from each man. Just try to make a little note of them, and if you catch yourself in the process of making one, step back and ask yourself if you might regret your actions later on.

1. Ladies, men generally know it is their “responsibility” to make the phone calls.
2. I know it’s tempting when you are snuggled close together to want to talk about your relationship, and find out where you stand in all this madness.
3. Stop asking questions about his past girlfriends.
4. Make it a habit of stepping outside yourself if you find that you have been babbling on and on.
5. Here’s an important one, at least in the beginning, don’t shed any tears.
6. This is an oldie, but a goodie

Global 2011: Lowe's staff save dozens

A typical Lowe's storefront in Santa Clara, Ca...Image via Wikipedia
More than 100 employees and customers at a home improvement store, crammed shoulder-to-shoulder seeking safety from one of the deadly storms that ripped through the South, screamed in near unison once the steel roof curled off overhead, the store's manager said Sunday.

They all made it out alive Saturday, thanks to quick action by Lowe's store manager Michael Hollowell and his employees, who carried out an emergency response plan they had learned. They herded everyone to the windowless rear area of the store, away from the direct hit out front.

"You could hear all the steel ripping. People screaming in fear for their lives," Hollowell told The Associated Press.

Hollowell and his employees deserve credit for moving customers to a safe zone in the store about 40 miles south of Raleigh, said Sanford police Capt. J.R. Weeks.

"It can't help but have saved lives," he said. Since most of the damage was in the front, getting them farther away likely prevented some people from harm.

Global 2011: Wendy's Natural Cut Fries

Wendy'sImage via Wikipedia
When Wendy's (NYSE: WEN - News) created its Natural Cut Fries With Sea Salt, which it introduced last fall and is now promoting in new TV ads this week, the company's product development team found a way to leave the potato skins on, make the fries crispier and give them a much tastier flavor. What they didn't manage to do, however, is make the fries an actual all-natural product. That, says CMO Ken Calwell, would be too difficult given fast food customers' demands for items that are cheap and can be hoisted through a car window.

"People are saying they want high integrity ingredients, things their grandmother would have used, that don't look like they came out of a chemistry lab," Calwell explained in an interview with BNET. "But they're also saying I've got a family to feed and can only afford to spend about $4 on my lunch, and I've only got about a minute or two to eat it."

Global 2011: Homes With The Most Outrageous Amenities

Heisler Park, Laguna Beach, CaliforniaImage via Wikipedia
Whether a home is newly purchased or long inhabited, an updated kitchen, a new deck or even a coat of fresh paint can make it feel spiffier. When it comes to luxury real estate, however, some homeowners take upgrades to an extreme, spending big bucks on outrageous amenities.

The $10 million cliffside dwelling at Point Place in Laguna Beach, Calif., would make Bruce Wayne proud. The driveway has a secret, subterranean entrance below the house's steep perch, inside the cliff itself. Once a car passes through the hidden garage door, a commercial-grade hydraulic lift transports it up and into the house.

This biometric wallet has a Bluetooth proximity alarm, carbon fiber shell, and fingerprint sensor for maximum security. It will set the rich and paranoid back about $825.

Afraid someone might take something out of your wallet? If you have $825 to spend, fear no more. Dunhill is selling what it calls a “Biometric Wallet” that it claims is virtually indestructible and can only be opened with your fingerprint. Scared of someone taking the entire wallet? It can be linked to a mobile phone via Bluetooth and set to sound an alarm if your phone and wallet are separated by more than five meters (15 feet).
