Global 2011: Daniel Craig Secretly Weds Oscar Winning Actress Rachel Weisz

Actress, Rachel WeiszImage via WikipediaDaniel Craig and Oscar winning actress Rachel Weisz have surprised the world by getting married. Perhaps this tying of another Hollywood star knot is not too surprising as Craig and Weisz will be hitting the big screen as a married couple in the film "Dream House." The surprise may be legitimate in light of the fact that when Weisz broke it off with her former boyfriend, director Darren Aronofsky, in November of 2010, she denied being involved with the latest and greatest James Bond.

Daniel Craig is certainly well known around the world as 007 and for memorable performances in films ranging from "Infamous" to "Defiance." The new Mrs. Craig is also a familiar face to audiences courtesy of parts in blockbusters like "The Mummy" and "Fred Claus." Less familiar to many of those moviegoers, perhaps, is Weisz's Academy Award winning performance in "The Constant Gardener." A great movie that also features a great performance by Ralph Fiennes so see if when you get the chance.

The wedding ceremony was secretive and sparsely attended. Reports indicate that the marriage took place in the presence of just four witnesses that included Craig's teenage daughter and Weisz's four year old son. That son's father is Weisz's ex, Aronofsky.

Global 2010: No Tights, No Tuxedo: Eastwood Reveals He Passed on Iconic Roles

Dirty Harry in tights? How about 'The Man With No Name' in a tux sipping a vodka martini?

That's what could have happened, according to L.A. Times journalist Geoff Boucher. During a three-hour interview with the reporter, Clint Eastwood let it slip that he could have played both Superman and 007, but turned the roles down.

Unlike today, where every third flick seems to have been culled from the pages of comic books, superhero movies were then seen as box-office poison. Eastwood was concerned of being typecast as a caped crime fighter. "I always liked characters that were more grounded in reality," he said.

When "Superman" did eventually hit the silver screen in 1978, starring a then unknown Christopher Reeve, Eastwood found himself starring opposite a smart aleck orangutan in "Every Which Way but Loose."

A few years earlier, Eastwood was approached by a representative of the Broccoli family, who produced the 007 series. Desperate to find a replacement for Sean Connery, they thought that Eastwood might be the person they sought. He disagreed.
